The complete series was released on DVD on October 14, 2008. The series won one Emmy Award nomination, for costume designer Grady Hunt's work in the episode "All the Emperor's Quasi-Norms, Part 2". Three of the episodes were direct satires of Star Trek episodes. Quark‘s chances of success certainly weren’t helped by having premiered, in the first place, on loser network NBC (during a horrendous ratings period for the network, which scored only four shows in the year-end Top Thirty Nielsen ratings), nor debuting mid-season on a Friday evening of television with not one single showfrom any of the. In its short run, Quark satirized such science fiction as Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Flash Gordon. Weighing only 465 g (not including accessories), the Petzl Quark is super light weight, making it a great option for snowy colouirs, and its curved shaft allows for great performance on steeper slopes. Adam Quark, the main character, works to clean up trash in space by collecting "space baggies" with his trusted and highly unusual crew. The Petzl Quark is a climbers best friend when it comes to ice climbing or technical mountaineering. The show was set on a United Galaxy Sanitation Patrol Cruiser, an interstellar garbage scow operating out of United Galaxies Space Station Perma One in the year 2226. Shows like Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rodgers & Blakes 7 were riding out the Star Wars craze while Quark was poking fun at it. Quark was created by Buck Henry, co-creator of the spy spoof Get Smart.
